Shaquille is the son of Lucille O’Neal and Joe Toney. His father, Toney, was caught in the grip of drug addiction. Shaq was an infant at that time. Mr. Tony was imprisoned as well. When he was released, he gave the parental rights to Philip Arthur Harrison. Philip was a Jamaican stepfather of Shaq. He was an Army sergeant. So, he was raised by a Muslim stepfather and a Baptist mom. His stepfather passed away on September 10, 2013, because of a heart attack.
